How to Wear High Waisted Jeans

This is the first of what I hope will be many posts dedicated to mama style - and more specifically the wardrobe staples that us mamas can't live without!

I only discovered high waisted jeans a couple of weeks before the wedding. If you'd asked me my opinion on them beforehand, I would have reminsced about the hideous stone wash ones I wore in the 80s and early 90s that were made from thick, uncomfortable denim and onto which I often transferred images of New Kids on the Block & Bros. Yuck. But then I was sent a pair of gorgeous dark blue Jasper Conran jeans from Debenhams and fell completely and utterly head over heels in love.

In fact, I couldn't work out why I'd never tried a pair of high waisted trousers before. They've been all over the catwalks for the last three seasons at least - and with my post baby belly being my main 'problem area' it was fairly obvious they were going to look a whole lot better than a pair that sits on your hips and lets your mummy tummy hang over the top of them.

Not only are these Jasper Conrans high waisted, they are also shape enhancing with intelligent seaming to lift your bum. I have no idea what 'intellegent seaming' is but it would appear that it works. (Other half remarked 'NICE BUM' when I wore them for the first time!) These jeans give you a super silhouette and are the perfect length too (I'm 5ft 7). They look fab with both high heels and flat boots - plus their high waistedness can be shown off with a tight top tucked in - or worn to boost your confidence if, like me, you hate your flesh showing between trousers and top - as the extra couple of inches of material means there is no chance of anything being exposed when you move!

They are available from Debenhams, RRP £50, and are also available in a Petite version.
