The Chicco Oasys 1 Isofix Car Seat: A Review

Just before Christmas, we were sent the Chicco Oasys 1 car seat to review. I'd spotted it at the Chicco press day back in October and came back home raving about it to Himself. It was the perfect car seat; sleek and stylish, sturdy and supportive - plus with the handy added bonus of isofix fittings to boot.

Because Daisy has always been a skinny minnie, she stayed rear facing in her original car seat until she was eighteen months and then went straight into a stage two seat, which she still uses. But Evie, who exceeded 20lbs at around six months (YES! REALLY!), had to be moved into the next stage car seat much earlier.

There are heaps of things I love about the Oasys, but the main thing is the seat. It's huge and well supported with high sides and lots of padding which makes it look extra comfortable as well as being super safe. I also adore that it has a five position recline which means if your little one dozes off, you can put them into a more comfortable position to carry on snoozing. The button you need to press to change the position does require both hands (although that could be down to the weight of my chubster) so it's not something you can easily do on the move (even as a passenger) but that's not a deal breaker for me, I love that you're able to do it at all!

The seat is particularly easy to install - there are videos you can watch with a demonstration on how to do so (accessible by a QR code on your mobile or tablet - how very modern!) but the simple instructions on the seat itself were more than enough for me; I didn't even need to look at the accompanying manual. Once fitted, it feels so secure and the seat also has a top tether for additional peace of mind.

Other features include an easily adjustable (by button) head rest and five point harness and removable and machine washable seat covers (always handy as we all know how mucky car seats can get!). The seat structure, fabrics and padding are all perforated to allow maximum breathability too.

All in all we are very impressed with the Oasys, as we are with the Chicco brand as a whole, and we would recommend it to anyone looking to buy a stage one seat.
The Chicco Oasys 1 is available from all good retailers at an RRP of £269.99.

I was sent a Chicco Oasys 1 Car Seat for the purpose of this review. All opinions are entirely honest and my own.

  1. Wow, those car seats look really comfy. As far as I know Chicco is pretty decent brand and one of the best in this field. Even if proces are relatively high, those are, I believe, totally wisely spent funds.

  2. We have the same one and it's brilliant isn't it! Sadly as is isofix we've has to leave it in the Grandparents car as our car doesn't fit them but maybe soon they will bring out the non isofix version and it has enough merits to do so I think! :-)
