The Secret Linen Store

The house renovations may have reached a bit of a standstill but that doesn't mean I can't keep treating myself us to pieces of furniture and other pretties. On the radar this week were soft furnishings and little trinkets for our bedroom!

There's still a bit of work to be done in our bedroom. We were almost finished and then we had new windows installed so now we need the plasterer to pay us another visit to tidy up around the edges, the paintwork will then need touching up, and we're missing a bit of woodwork too (architrave and a door for our airing cupboard). But as far as I'm concerned those are teeny tiny jobs and now I'm most definitely allowed to start to make things look cosy and homely.

We co-sleep, and I can't see that stopping anytime soon, but one thing I said about our bedroom is that I'd like it to be a grown up space for us, even if the night times are spent with four people squished into the bed! The cottage is only tiny and there are toys and bits of baby paraphernalia EVERYWHERE (just as it should be!) but I wanted our room to be a bit of a haven... Somewhere I could escape to, and relax in on my own, if I ever wanted or needed to.

We have a white wrought iron bed and chunky, rustic wooden furniture. The walls are a soft, pale blue - a colour we've never had before - so new bed linen to match it was at the very top of our shopping list. Literally while I was online shopping, an email came through from a company called The Secret Linen Store asking if I'd like to review one of their bed linen sets - what perfect timing!

The Secret Linen Store was set up by two sisters; one textile designer, one marketing manager - both mums with a passion for beautiful luxury bed linen.

Without fancy offices, shops, staff or big marketing overheads, they are able to sell utterly gorgeous and fantastic quality bedding and accessories at the most incredible prices so if you're on the look out for new bedding, you must check them out!

I chose the Meadow, Indigo Blue set. Seeing as our room is blue, I was on the look out for some florals to make it a bit more girlie and this design was EXACTLY what I had in mind.

As soon as my (beautifully wrapped) parcel arrived, I was in love! The set is made from 100% Cotton (50% Egyptian) and has a ditsy floral pattern woven into the fabric using a Jacquard loom which means it's slightly textured and looks wonderful.

I love the little details - pink stitching on the duvet buttons, thick linen labels (which are hidden) and pillow cases that open in the middle so your pillows can't slide out!

A nice touch (and BRILLIANT marketing ploy!) was that a few samples of other patterns were included with my parcel to show what other designs would work well with the set I'd chosen. I now have tiny stripe and denim stripe pillowcases and cushion covers in my virtual shopping basket waiting for pay day!

A statistic I read recently is that you spend a third of your life in bed. I say make it somewhere amazing! First stop The Secret Linen Store xoxo
