Daily Outfit ♥ Glorious Green

1940s shirt dress - 20th Century Foxy, £99 (also available in blue and red)
Moheda Betty Clogs in Cognac - Lotta of Stockholm, £57.50

There's nothing I love more than being introduced to new brands and earlier in the month I discovered an amazing online boutique that sells vintage inspired clothing called 20th Century Foxy.

I LOVE vintage clothes. In the mid-nineties I would spend ALL my spare time at Kensington Market, on the Portobello Road or in Camden rummaging through rails and rails of old Farah flares, 60s shift dresses, psychedelic shirts with huge collars, vintage Fred Perrys and tiny tight leather jackets.

Fast forward two decades and my love of vintage is most definitely still there, but the time to go vintage shopping is not. Times have changed too. Vintage used to be affordable; nowadays prices are similar to {higher end} new pieces. In ye days of old, people were a different shape - and lots of the pieces I like, particularly from the 60s and 70s, come in teeny tiny sizes. I'm a curvy size 12 since having kiddos, so they're no good for me anymore.

I still make the odd purchase here and there of course (eBay is brilliant when you can't get out to browse, although you do have to compete with the whole of the UK/the world for those totally dreamy pieces which can make them more expensive) but I'm now a big fan of vintage inspired clothing and Cath Kidston and Fever London have been two of my favourite places to shop over the last year or two.

Now 20th Century Foxy are on my radar, I've a new place to spend my husband's hard earned cash and I've been busy racking up a huge virtual shopping basket ready for his my next pay day!

I adore this green dress - it's so authentic! It's strongly based on original patterns and photographs - take the gathers on the shoulder, the pleats around the waist seam and the slightly puffed sleeves for example - but it is made from a rayon/poly mix (with a touch of stretch) so that it's easy to wash and iron which is great for us 21st century women that are after a practical bit of 20th century glamour in our wardrobes.

I adore the wooden buttons and the collared neckline; dresses in the forties were just so elegant - even the every day ones like these!

DISCLAIMER: I was gifted this dress by 20th Century Foxy. Clogs are my own.
