The Halfords #31FitterDays Campaign
In January I took part in the #31FitterDays campaign, which was launched by Halfords in a bid to get the nation more active.
As part of the challenge I was sent a Garmin Vivofit; one of those wristband pedometer thingymajigs that EVERYONE is wearing at the moment. They really are brilliant - not only do they count your steps, they also work out the distance you've covered and the calories you've burnt in doing so - AND they monitor your sleep (or lack of it if you're me).
Halfords wrote me an exercise programme and set me a weekly challenge and I really found myself getting competitive whilst doing it! Not so much with other people (although you can do that on the Garmin app that you download to sync and store all your stats) - but just with myself.
I always thought I was a fairly active person, covering a little under 4 miles on foot every day doing the school runs, but in actual fact that only worked out at 8,000 steps and I'd just about crack the 10,000 step goal on a standard day. So I found myself being a whole heap more active than usual in January as I constantly strived to better my previous days steps. I even bought new trainers and joined the gym, I was THAT inspired.
My personal best during the course of the month was just over 15,300 steps in one day but, for me, the campaign isn't over yet..... I'm still wearing my Vivofit and I have no plans to take it off!
It constantly updates your own personal daily goal when you sync your daily stats so I'm going to carry on with what I'm doing while I work on my health & fitness goals for this year.
Thanks to Halfords for asking me to be a part of this project! It's been lots of fun xoxo
