Last week I posted over on Instagram about how my skin's been feeling a bit dull recently. It turns out that lots of you seem to feel the same. I think it's mostly to do with the weather; we're all in desperate need of a bit of Vitamin D. The fact we haven't had a proper winter makes me wonder whether it is yet to come, and I hate not knowing whether we're going to have to endure a cold spell before spring eventually arrives and things start warming up!
But this damp, mild winter has also made me re-evaluate my skincare regime for the first time in twenty years, which has got to be a good thing. Since my teens I've had exactly the same routine and have only ever used Simple products. Touch wood I didn't ever really suffer from any major skin complaints growing up, but now I'm in my thirties I'm conscious of the odd laughter line appearing, and I've also noticed that my skin dries out easily either when it's cold or if I'm tired or under the weather, so I thought it might be time to try something new. I planned to do some research into supersonic hydrating anti-aging wonder creams but then last week, in two entirely separate conversations, two mums at the school gates (who both have seriously beautiful, youthful skin) recommended the same two products from Green People.
I like going by personal recommendations so decided to give them both a whirl and went ahead and ordered myself the Fruit Scrub and Vita Min Fix 24hr moisturiser.
Exfoliating is a really important part of any skin care routine. Not only does it remove dead cells, it also deep cleans and makes it easier for moisturiser to be absorbed. The Fruit Scrub is a certified organic exfoliator with finely ground apricot kernels in it which gently buff the skin. It smells AMAZING (that would be the mandarin and fair trade bergamot oil) and leaves your skin feeling smooth and clean, without feeling tight and uncomfortable (which is very often the case for me when using a facial scrub).
The moisturiser is quite possibly the best I have ever come across and subsequently I too have been recommending it to mums at the school gate! Also organic - and alcohol, paraben and lanolin free - it's rich in nourishing vitamins, minerals and antioxidants and contains baicalin, which is clinically proven to protect and extend cell life, making it a great anti ageing cream. I've been using this every night for the last couple of weeks and can visibly see a difference in my complexion. Instead of waking up tired and puffy, my face seems to glow, which is just the pick-me-up I needed. I've not had to wear foundation or concealer since using it either, which is unheard of for me in the winter.
If, like mine was, your skin is feeling a bit meh and needs a little treat I would definitely suggest trying one or both of these products out. They are available direct from the Green People website here, with the exfoliator retailing at £13.50, and the moisturiser at £16.50.
