Butcher's Gin is, as it sounds, no ordinary gin - and is not suitable for vegetarians! Created by luxury Belgian butchery, De Laet & Van Haver, it is based on the flavours of the award winning Secreto 07 dry-aged beef which is the finest produce from rubia gallega cattle and is loved by Michelin-starred chefs all over the world.
The gin itself is distilled the old fashioned London dry way - but with two new distillates added to the process; herbs and meat! The top secret blend of herbs and spices that form part of the rub for the Secreto 07 beef is macerated before the gin distillation - with a little of the meat also added to the spirit.
The outcome? A very interesting and spicy gin, with added hints of juniper, cardamom, coriander, orange zest and black pepper.
I realise that this may not appeal to all, but I personally recommend that you give this bad boy a go! I'm really into my gin at the moment and thoroughly enjoyed mixing a 25ml shot of Butcher's Gin with tomato juice, a splash of tabasco and Worcestershire sauces (to taste) and a stalk of celery to mix (aka a Red Snapper - a gin based Bloody Mary). Another option is to add a few drops of lemon juice, some pink pepper tonic, a whiff of black pepper and some fresh basil - perfect BBQ drinks or what!
