Tom & Jerry: Firm Family Favourites

Tom & Jerry was one of my favourite cartoons as a kid. The characters were cute and funny, and the fact that the episodes were short enough to keep my attention made me hungry for more!

In those days we didn't have as much choice when it came to kids TV as our children do now. We had four channels, only two of which showed children's programmes, for a couple of hours after school and on Saturday mornings and that was it.

When we were told about a new series of The Tom & Jerry Show starting on Boomerang and asked if we'd like to give it a sneak preview I actually got really excited about being able to introduce the girls to it. We don't have Sky or Virgin so we won't get the chance to watch it on TV as it airs.

Once our DVD arrived, and armed with a few extra goodies, we decided to have a Tom & Jerry afternoon which it was heaps of fun.

The DVD came first and, as I expected, the girls LOVED it. Evie was utterly mesmerised, which I found hilarious (it's usually pretty hard to get her to sit still).

Then Daisy and I played Tom Bomb (a game for kids age 3+ which involves trying to get Tom to pop out of a barrel!) while Evie played with a Jerry figurine. It was a lot of fun and really made me reminisce about my own childhood all those years ago ;)

The Tom and Jerry Show is currently airing on Boomerang on Saturday mornings at 9am (Sky Channels: 603 and 618/ Virgin Channels: 730 and 731).

DISCLAIMER: We were sent a review disc of the new series of Tom & Jerry (and a few extra little goodies) in exchange for this post.

  1. It doesn't seem to age - a timeless classic. Lovely post - and I like the pop up game!
